About Marta
Marta is a musicians based in Copenhagen. In 2021 she graduated from the soloist class in percussion instruments from Det Kongelige Danske Musikkonservatorium. Since the very young age of nine, she has been dedicating her life and studies to music, specialising in percussion instruments and piano. She collaborates with various ensembles around Europe (Scenatet, Athelas Sinfonietta, Ekkozone, Sentieri Selvaggi, Reconvert, … ) and different orchestras in Denmark and Italy (The Danish Radio Orchestra, Dat Kgl. Kapel, Santa Cecilia orchestra, Copenhagen Phil, …). She is also founding member of the percussion duo SistroDuo, the Seit quartet and the artistic collective Monoc.
About the lessons
Marta about her lessons: “My lessons are open to students of all ages and levels; I love to work with both kids, teenagers or adults, beginners, intermediate or advanced musicians. The range of possibilities offered by the world of percussion instruments being so wide, I believe every one can and should be led to find his/her true voice in it.
When teaching I love to get to know my students, to teach them everything there is to know about the instrument they have chosen, but always trying to second their natural musical inclinations, to develop their creativity and expressiveness. I always hope to encourage within my students a very deep commitment to their instruments and the practice of music.”
Lessons will be structured differently according to the individual, his/her age and goals, but keeping in mind these targets:
-Building a solid technical basis (whether it is on the piano, on the drums or on mallet instruments (marimba and/or vibraphone with 2 and 4 mallets)).
-Reaching a good knowledge of solfége and rhythms.
-Approaching the repertoire of the instrument in its variety.
-Developing the students’ expressiveness and ability to understand and interpret music.
-Sight-reading.
According to the student’s interests, I am also happy to combine percussion lessons with some basic piano. I think knowing how to play piano can widen one’s approach to music.
Lessons are preferably taught in English (or Italian).
The first lesson
On the first lesson I usually start with a short conversation with the student to get to know his/her own expectations of the lessons and their goals. I like then to move directly to the instrument and start playing!
