About me
My name is Beatriz, and I am a pianist/vocalist who focus on the practice of musical improvisation, contemporary composition and interdisciplinary art performances. Graduated in classical piano in Granada (Spain) and with a Master in Global Music by the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. I use piano, my voice and body in my professional performances.
An active collaborator
I am an active collaborator as a pianist with theater companies and big ensembles, that has performed within different genre festivals like jazz, improvised music, contemporary dance and theater.
Beside my rhytmic/classic piano education, I have trained my voice in classic technique and jazz, which I nowadays use for my compositions. All that I have studied together with different performance experiences, has contributed to find my own personal musical voice, based in a eclectic source of influences.
That is why, from begginers to more advanced students, I like to transmit this wide perspective to enjoy music in many ways, guiding through different styles, techniques and finding a personal voice in piano playing.
About my teaching
My experience teaching began 5 years ago, with people from 6 to 60 years old, both giving private classes, and teaching in music schools. This vast range of ages has giving me a flexible approach to each student and focus on their motivations and needs. My method includes studying from classical composers, to popular songs, jazz standards and even working with the student compositions and proposals.
Improvisation
Having specialized myself in improvisation, I put an emphasis on learning improvisation as a tool to develop the sound of the instrument, confidence on playing, creativity and ear training. My aim is that with every theory/technical step we do, we can put it in practice for solo playing and ensemble playing.
Beside piano playing, I can teach voice for beginners (classic/jazz), harmony, arrangement and extended piano/voice techniques for contemporary improvisation.
Classes can be both in english or spanish, and I can manage a bit with Danish and French. Don’t doubt to contact me for any question, I will be looking forward to help you.
