About Emilia
Emilia is a Finnish mezzo-soprano studying a master’s degree in vocal performance at The Royal Academy of Music Aarhus.
She got her bachelor’s degree from The Royal Conservatoire The Hague after studying music, also at Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre and at Turku Conservatory.
Emilia started classical vocal lessons in a very early age after testing a couple of instruments, and really got into classical music after an intensive musical theatre phase in her teens.
Nowadays Emilia is most fond of lied music, as she also loves poetry. She has given voice lessons for a couple of years to teenagers and adults in all levels.
Teaching
Emilia thinks there should be the joy of singing at every lesson. It’s important to work on repertoire that motivates the student and let them also just sing between the exercises and enjoy the music.
A good balance between working on technique and interpretation makes the lessons more interesting, and they support each other regardless of the student’s level.
Emilia wishes to give a safe and encouraging environment and for all the lessons to feel rewarding.
First lesson
The first lesson is about discovering the students voice material with simple vocal exercises and exploring the possibilities.
With a beginner student it’s about finding out the different ways to use the voice, testing resonance and registers, and searching for the good posture and breathing.
